-
Specialist consultation
REAL Plastic Surgery uses a multidisciplinary team approach, bringing together plastic surgery specialists from each surgical field. Based on examination results and communication with the patient, we explain precautions and potential side effects and recommend the most appropriate surgical plan.
-
A medical system certified by the Ministry of Health and Welfare
In the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare's 2016 certification assessment of institutions serving international patients, REAL was recognized for service quality and patient safety. REAL Plastic Surgery provides a systematic medical framework certified against more than 120 rigorous standards, including patient safety, fire safety, and surgical and procedural management.
-
Preoperative examination
Preoperative testing is essential to surgical safety. A chest X-ray, electrocardiogram, and blood tests are necessary steps for safe anesthesia. The results help assess liver, heart, and kidney function and identify lung disease, anemia, or other concerns. These examinations determine whether the patient's condition is suitable for surgery and general anesthesia and confirm their current health and previous examination findings.
-
Surgery
Before surgery, you will complete an informed consent form and receive detailed postoperative instructions. You will then have a final consultation with the lead surgeon to review the plan before the operation begins. The procedure follows a multidisciplinary approach, with plastic surgeons from the relevant specialties and continuous real-time monitoring by a dedicated anesthesia team.
-
Postoperative recovery and inpatient care
After surgery, every patient is closely monitored in the recovery room until stable. Hospital admission may be required when necessary. Anesthesiologists, nurses, and medical staff monitor the patient throughout, while REAL's safety system remains fully active to support a sound postoperative recovery.
-
Care after discharge
To reduce postoperative swelling and promote a faster recovery after discharge, REAL provides a personalized recovery program with attentive follow-up care.

Common questions
Questions and answers
Review common concerns before your consultation
I am still in high school. Do I definitely need surgery?+
Gynecomastia during puberty is often caused by hormonal changes and does not always require surgery. If it persists after puberty, a detailed evaluation is recommended before considering surgery.
When can I return to daily activities?+
Most daily activities can resume after surgery, except strenuous exercise and sauna use. Arm movement may feel limited initially, but ordinary daily life is usually not significantly affected.
Can exercise eliminate gynecomastia?+
Exercise cannot remove glandular gynecomastia, so surgical treatment may be needed. Mild cases may look somewhat better with exercise, but increased chest muscle can sometimes make the condition more noticeable. A proper diagnosis is recommended.
